This is a high-quality, unframed print of my original painting, “Mother 2,” which depicts a mechanical bird hovering over the hatching eggs in her nest. Painted in 2019, this piece depicts my fascination with a post-apocalyptic world in which machines have the ability to replicate themselves, albeit in ways we don’t yet understand. The gears of her one chick as it hatches is evident through the break in its shell. Although the birds have adapted to self-replication, they appear to not have evolved from their natural environment. This painting was inspired by a metal bird that I picked up at a thrift shop and it still keeps me company in my home studio.
