94th Annual Convention, Columbia County Volunteer Firefighters Association

This year’s Convention will be held at the Columbia County Fairgrounds, Chatham, New York, on July 27, 2019!

As a former Ladies Auxiliary Secretary and former Volunteer Firefighter (and EMT with the EMS division) for Niverville Fire Department (Niverville, Columbia County, New York), this event is special to me - and an opportunity to see those I may not have seen in many years.

While it’s been more than a few years since I’ve walked through the doors of a fire station, I will be participating as a vendor at this year’s Convention, and I’m looking forward to seeing the Convention from a different perspective. If you see me, stop by and say, “Hiya!”

Chatham Summerfest 2019

July 20, 2019 I participated in Chatham Summerfest, 2019! Summerfest was even more spectacular this year, as Chatham celebrated its 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village.

Each time we (my helpers and I) participate in an outdoor event, we refine my space. My booth was a relaxing and welcoming place - it was HOT as we were in the middle of a record-breaking heat wave - so I put up two sidewalls. We wouldn’t have made it as long as we did without them. 94 degrees with a heat index of 103 and 67% humidity. I can’t remember EVER being so HOT.

Thank you to the Columbia County Land Conservancy and the Crandell Theatre for the use of their air conditioning, and thank you to the caring vendors who reached out to us to make sure we were ok in the heat, and provided us with water and did their best to help everyone around them survive and thrive in the heat.

I had a great time and met some wonderful people. It was lovely to see others that I’d met before. Being a part of our local community is a privilege and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
