Columbia County, New York has a lush landscape that subtly changes from spring to spring - I see such changes in the undulation of the grounds of my own property. Sometimes, the changes are more drastic, such as when dams are created and waterways break their banks, carving new boundaries. In an area of Canaan, I frequently drive by the pond depicted in this painting. I get glimpses of the pond’s stillness that is rich with wildlife, as it is slightly tucked back from the road. I’m so happy I get to share this lovely and quiet place with you.
