Cesare Curtis “Curt” Claudio 08/28/1948-12/22/1981

While I was researching Vietnam Veterans for an upcoming project, I came across Above Us Only Sky. I was deeply moved by the footage of Curt, wherein he arrives at the house of John Lennon, unannounced and uninvited, believing that John was speaking directly to him through his music. It’s a poignant scene that has touched many people, some believing that Curt posed a threat to John, and others seeing a very vulnerable and broken young man in Curt. The bulk of information about Curt online, and there really isn’t that much, states that Curt was a Vietnam Veteran - which his brother told me is not true. I’ll leave it to Curt’s family to share, or not share, the actual details of Curt’s life and death, that’s not my story to tell. What I will say is that my search for examples of one story led me, instead, to another story that inexplicably touched me - and, isn’t that often the case?
